We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Ucam collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Android app. Please read it carefully.
Ucam is a companion app for dashcams and similar imaging devices. Core features include connecting to the device over Wi‑Fi, live preview, file management, settings, local playback/editing, and optional map/GPS track display. Media transfer with the device mainly stays on the local Wi‑Fi network. We do not upload your phone album content to our servers unless you explicitly use a feature that requires network upload (for example submitting feedback with logs).
On first launch we show this Privacy Policy and related agreements. If you disagree, you cannot continue. Before you agree, we do not initialize optional third-party components beyond what the consent UI itself requires, and we do not request sensitive permissions beyond what the system needs for that UI. The current version does not integrate a third-party analytics SDK.
1. Information we may collect
Depending on the feature you use, we may process:
- Wi‑Fi scan/connection info (SSID/BSSID, signal, local IP/gateway) to discover and keep the device link — processed locally, not uploaded for pairing.
- Location permission only as required by Android to access Wi‑Fi SSID/BSSID or for map/track when you use that feature — not for continuous tracking/ads.
- Device-side dashcam info (model, firmware, file lists, preview stream) over local Wi‑Fi — not your phone IMEI as a dashcam identifier.
- Local media you download or export — stored on your phone; uploaded only if you choose feedback/log upload.
- Contact info you provide when you reach support or submit feedback.
Account registration is not required for core features. Optional profile fields (e.g. vehicle brand) are collected only if you provide them.
2. How we use information & permissions
We use information to provide connection, preview, download, settings, playback/editing, map/track, firmware helpers, and customer support. Permissions (Wi‑Fi/network, location, nearby Wi‑Fi devices on Android 13+, media/storage, wake lock, notifications/foreground service for downloads) follow the minimum-necessary principle and can be revoked in system settings (related features may stop working).
3. Your rights
You may access app/permission status in About/Settings, request correction or deletion via support, withdraw permissions in system settings, clear app data/uninstall, and delete downloaded files in-app. If you later use an optional account, you may request account deletion as then instructed.
4. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell personal information. Sharing is limited to legal requirements, your consent, or processors needed for a feature. Third-party components may include GSYVideoPlayer/ijkplayer, Media3 ExoPlayer, Glide, OkHttp, Baidu Map SDK, and Google Maps SDK (channel-dependent). Each follows its own privacy terms when applicable.
5. Storage & security
Personal information collected in the PRC is stored in the PRC. Media and connection records are primarily local. We apply reasonable security measures; no method is perfectly secure.
6. Children
The service is intended for adults. Minors should use the app only with guardian consent.
7. Updates
We may update this Policy and notify you in-app or by other means. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
